Accepting new patients for July 2026!
In short, yes! You are in the right place if you are experiencing symptoms related to the pelvic floor including pelvic, back, and hip pain, leaking, incontinence, prolapse, diastasis recti, or if you are looking for support during pregnancy and postpartum including return to activity/exercise.
Depending on your specific issue, you may start to feel better after the first visit. For many people, progress can be slow and steady as we work through underlying causes of symptoms, and it may be recommended to meet weekly at first. During your initial evaluation, we will talk specifically about what to expect, a plan for resolving issues and healing, and how long to expect it might take to get there.
North Carolina is a direct access state, which means no physician's referral is needed. We will perform a thorough examination to see if pelvic therapy is the right fit for you- and help guide you if you would benefit from seeing a physician or another therapist. You can schedule and begin your recovery right away, or call to find out more about our services!
I am out-of-network with insurance companies. This approach allows me to provide a higher quality of care, with longer and personalized 1-on-1 appointments, and to treat based on my clinical training and expertise without the resitrictions of insurance-based care. Many find that the added value, personalized attention, and results exceed that of a typical clinic setting. For those with insurance, I can provide you with a superbill (a detailed receipt) for reimbursement according to your out-of-network benefits.
Length of visit: 1 hour
What to wear: Comfortable clothes
You will be seen in a private treatment room, and we will first spend time talking as I learn about your symptoms, concerns, and goals. You will receive a thorough assessment so we can gain information specific to your issues, including examination of posture, breathing, functional movement, strength, and coordination. An internal vaginal exam to assess the muscles of the pelvic floor is often recommended- which is always with your consent and within your comfort level. I know pelvic floor therapy can seem intimidating, and will make sure you are comfortable throughout your treatment session. We will also discuss a plan of care to help you reach your goals.
Your comfort is extremely important, and nothing is ever required. If you prefer not to have an internal exam, there is still a lot we can learn and accomplish by looking at function in other areas. If you are comfortable with an internal exam, it allows me to directly assess the muscles of the pelvic floor and gives us great information as we work together toward resolving symptoms. Either way, I am looking forward to helping you.
It is never too late to get help and address issues that might have arisen during pregnancy and birthing. If you have been dealing with symptoms for a long time, I’m glad you found me and I would love to help.
If you are newly postpartum and are able to come in during the first few weeks that is wonderful and can be very helpful as you start healing, or you can wait until you are cleared by your OB for internal work after 6 weeks. I know it can be an overwhelming time, but you deserve to take care of you!
Yes! Physical therapy can be especially beneficial after a Cesarean section- for recovery, scar tissue, and return to function. Those who deliver via C-section deserve the same level of care as anyone postpartum dealing with the issues that can arise after carrying a baby, including increased pressure on the pelvic floor, postural and strength issues, diastasis recti, etc.
Pelvic PT experiences can vary widely depending on the provider, how they approach treatment, and time spent with you. Even if it didn't help before, I would love for you to revisit pelvic floor therapy. Sometimes a different approach and a new set of eyes can make a big difference, and I'd love the chance to help you.
You do not need to do anything special to prepare for an internal exam. It is also completely fine to have an internal exam while on your period, and does not affect our assessment. It may even give us helpful information if your symptoms are cyclical. However, if you are more comfortable waiting on an interal exam, we can still accomplish a lot by working in other areas.
